Denis Villeneuve to direct ‘James Bond 007’ film, Amazon MGM Studios has confirmed that Oscar-nominated director Denis Villeneuve will officially direct their next James Bond film.
Known for his work on successful films such as Dune, Blade Runner 2049 and Arrival, the renowned French-Canadian filmmaker described the opportunity as a “dream come true”.
In a statement, Villeneuve revealed that he is a huge fan of the 007 franchise: “I grew up watching the Bond films with my father. James Bond is very special to me. I want to honour his legacy and start many exciting stories to come.”
Villeneuve, who will also serve as executive producer, said he is thrilled to be rebooting Bond. The film will take the series into a new era, starting anew following the exit of veteran producers Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Amazon MGM studio head Mike Hopkins praised Villeneuve, calling him a “master of cinema” and said the Bond franchise is in the best hands.
“Villeneuve is a visionary with a knack for immersive storytelling. We can’t wait to begin this next 007 chapter.” Pascal and Heyman said Villeneuve has long dreamed of making a Bond film, and they feel fortunate to collaborate with him on the series.

Rumors include Aaron Taylor-Johnson, James Norton, and Paul Mescal for the role of Bond, but no official casting announcement has been made yet.
